What is Shot Blasting?
Shot blasting or grit blasting is the preparation of metal surfaces. The blasting process ensures the surface is in the best condition to provide the necessary adhesion for the paint being administered.
We fire tiny abrasive particles at the surface in question, gently removing any contaminants, such as rust, grease or any other surface irregularities that could have impacted the metal – in some cases from decades ago. The changes we can make to a tired looking surface are often transformational.
Typically, this process is carried out prior to powder coating or dry painting. But flexibility is the order of the day – which is why we offer customers a blast-only service, or as part of our powder coating services. It all depends on the nature of your project.
Our Facility
At GLF Coatings, all our blasting processes are handled in-house. Our large-scale, on site blast room provides the ambient conditions to ensure all pre-treatment and finishing processes are carried out efficiently, to ensure quality control of the entire project, from beginning to end.
